A Message for the Holidays . . .

 “From Thanks to Praise”

It’s fun to thank someone and pretty easy to do for most people.  It is more difficult to praise someone, and many folks don’t do that very readily.  One of the “Fortune 500” companies was the subject of a survey a few years ago.  The employees were asked to name the one thing that was most important to them at the office.  While good pay, insurance coverage and a comfortable office environment were high on their lists, the #1 thing was to receive “praise and acknowledgement” from a supervisor or manager.  People like to be honored for their efforts – a nice atta-boy or atta-girl goes a long way!

In the spiritual realm the same holds true: God likes to be thanked for what He does – all the good gifts He gives to us.  But in the same manner, He loves to be praised and honored simply for who He is!  People that go to church call this worship.  When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the angels and shepherds and Magi all worshipped the baby.  At Thanksgiving time we feast, celebrate and thank God for all His good gifts.  Christmas is a great time to simply worship and praise Him.  God identifies Himself in the Bible as the “God of Salvation” and that is what Jesus’ birth was all about!  The celebration of this event is the perfect opportunity to praise Him and honor Him.  Take the time this holiday season to attend a Christmas Program or a Christmas Service and do just that.

Merry Christmas!
Neil
