A Word From the Pastor. . .
Easter is early this year – March 23rd – not in April as it is supposed to be. We like to have things predictable and planned-out. Changes in our routines or our expectations are not usually very welcomed. We don’t like to have flights cancelled or delayed; we get impatient when freeway traffic slows down or stops; we are annoyed when our investments don’t pay off; we are not very pleased when our plans for a great weekend get changed; even worse, when our expected future with a loved one is altered by an untimely accident or illness, and our joy is turned to grief.
God reminds us that in the rapidly changing affairs of this life, He is solidly in control, He never changes and He always has a plan (Genesis 50:20). It is always good to be reminded of this fact: the sovereign God is the one who began all things, presently sustains all things and ultimately will be totally in control when He brings His universe to an end (Proverbs 19:21). I guess that little phrase – “if the Lord wills” – always applies when we are planning and preparing for something! If we have a handle on that, we can have the same attitude the Apostle Paul had when he said, “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.” (Philippians 4:11)
